Review: Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer

I’m a busy girl. I work a lot, I hike a lot, I socialize a lot, I walk my dog a lot….I do a lot of things. When I get super busy, the first thing to go is sleep…which often leaves me with some very unfortunate dark circles. Ugh!

I think we can all agree that it’s no fun when someone says “You look tired.” Who wants to hear that?! I feel like its just the “nice” way of saying “You look terrible.”

So, what can we do about that? If getting more sleep is not an option for you…then you can find an amazing concealer to fully cover those dark circles!

Now the question is…how do I find one that looks natural, not too thick or cake-y? Don’t worry, I did this step for you…

When my “amazing, works so well, but full of toxins” concealer ran out, I went in to The Detox Market store here in LA. The lovely girl helped me try several of the concealers. The first few left me far from optimistic. I had read such good things about these products online, but trying them in person was so disappointing! But, I wasn’t leaving until I exhausted all my options. Luckily for me, it paid off when we arrived at this….

Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer – Yucca

What is it?

This is a lightweight, creamy concealer with medium coverage. Not only does it hide imperfections, it helps to brighten your skin with Vitamin C.

That’s right, it’s not JUST a concealer…it’s a serum too! They’ve added a few exciting ingredients to help improve your skin over time.

Vitamin C: This protects the skin from free radicals and environmental damage. With continued use, it will help brighten your skin.

Mastic: This resin comes from a tree that grows on one of the Greek islands. It can boost collagen production, control oil, soothe and refine skin, all while leaving a perfect matte finish.

Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract: This protects collagen, helping to reduce the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and puffiness.

How it feels?

It feels oh so smooth on my skin…and it easily blends in right away!

My thoughts…

It works!

I seriously tried SO many with no luck. As soon as I applied this, my dark circles seemed to disappear. My eyes looked bright and I look like I actually got a full 9 hours of sleep. Yay!

I love how well it blends into my skin. Some concealers will crease or look too thick…but not this stuff! It looks so natural, you really can’t even tell I’m wearing makeup.

Bye bye dark undereye.

Before
After

Aside from loving how well this conceals, I love the fact that it is a serum too. There are ingredients in this makeup that actually help my skin? Yes, please!

Plus, it lasts all day.

It’s hard to say if the vitamin C is truly brightening my skin, but I’m more interested in the protection from environmental damage. I live in sunny (and smoggy) Los Angeles, so I need all the help I can get in that department!

Pro-tip:  Use a Beauty Blender for the most flawless application.

I’m already on my third tube of this stuff, and I’m almost ready for more!
