Review: Honest Company Hydrogel Cream

Here is one that meets my clean standards and performs pretty well at the same time…

What is it?

This is a gel moisturizer with a creamy consistency. It’s intense hydration comes courtesy of hyaluronic acid, squalane, and jojoba esters.

Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid helps the skin hold onto water and look more hydrated. Want the youthful, plump, dewy look? Hyaluronic acid is your best friend.

Squalane: Squalane oil closely resembles the oils that your skin already produces naturally.  It is an excellent anti-aging moisturizer that will not clog your pores, but actually fight acne thanks to its ability to fight bacteria.  Worried about sun damage and free radicals? Oh yeah, squalane fights those too.  Miracle product.

Jojoba Esters: Jojoba esters come from jojoba oil. Similar to squalane, it’s pretty similar to the natural oils made by your skin. It’s what’s going to take your skin’s smoothness to the next level.

Overall, it’s a ton of moisture that plumps your skin and leaves you with a dewy glow.

How it feels?

It feels light, yet creamy. There’s a slight cooling feeling when you apply.

My thoughts…

I like the product, but don’t love the smell. Even though it’s “unscented”, it still has a scent, and I’m just not into it. But that’s ok, because I’m into the rest of it. I love the way it melts into my skin. It does the job pretty quickly, too. My dry, flaky forehead went straight to smooth, supple forehead after rubbing it in. Fine lines? Not so visible. It made my skin look…healthy. That’s what we all want, right? It made me FEEL healthy, too, knowing that the ingredients in the product are actually healthy. It really gave me a fresh glow. It even made me glow enough to go makeup free some days.

*My main complaint about this product is the packaging. It comes in a jar so you need to scoop the moisturizer yourself each time you use it. 

Pro-tip:  Get yourself a little scoop and clean it every time.  Don’t use your grubby fingers, that will just spoil it faster.
